I love my work and find it exciting to meet the challenges brought by working with both new and longstanding clients. I am interested in understanding the complexity of each person and in helping them achieve both short-term and future goals.
Having received my PhD in Psychology in 1985, I have been working with diverse populations. I have been fortunate to have a variety of kinds of clients ranging from young, ambitious professionals and non-professionals, to soon-to-be retiring or transitioning, to elderly and disabled shut-ins. Often there is a reason to include or focus on families. I also find it gratifying to work with LGB issues. More recently, because of my location, I have been consulted by many Orthodox Jews. In terms of long-term goals, I work in depth, helping people to achieve changes which will lead to personal and professional growth and satisfaction. I also work with acute problems to help people reach more immediate goals.
I have received training in hypnosis, mindfulness meditation, EMDR, DBT and cognitive-behavioral techniques. Currently, I am completing a certification in Psychoanalysis at the Postgraduate Program in Psychoanalysis and Psychotherapy at Adelphi University.
I believe that everyone should be able to live their lives without being held hostage to their history. While therapy cannot promise happiness, it can clear the way to make it possible. At any age, therapy provides solutions and can help bring both meaning and hope.
